Compassionate Guru Lung Du Yung Jing Rinpoche’s Exceptional Exo-Esoteric Practice Lineage

Exoteric Buddhism / Exoteric Practice for over 3 Decades

Venerable Guru Lung Du Yung Jing Rinpoche, a holder of the Vajrayana teachings, immersed himself in the study of Mahayana sutras and commentaries. He took refuge in Mahayana Buddhism under the guidance of Master Huei Hsin in 1989. He engaged in profound exoteric practice, delving into the Buddhist scriptures. He continuously gave teachings on various Mahayana scriptures such as The Great Treasure Accumulation Sutra, The Lotus Sutra, The Sutra of the Tathagata’s Secret Ultimate Practice Realized by Bodhisattvas Through Ten Million Eons, The Sutra in Forty-Two Sections, The Sutra on the Buddha’s Last Teachings, The Sutra on Contemplation of the Buddha of Immeasurable Life, and the Five Pure Land Sutras, among many others.

Brief introduction to Elder Huei Hsin: Born in Hsinchu in 1928, he had long-established good roots and became a monk as a child. At the age of 22, in order to obtain the certificate of vindication, he went to the Yunxia Cave in Shitou Mountain to practice intensively and went deep into the teaching sea for more than three years. After leaving the customs, he was non-stop to promote the Dharma and benefit living beings; in order to go deep into the scriptures and understand the Dharma principles, he went through several retreats and practiced hard for more than nine years.

Although Elder Huei Hsin had read the Tripitaka extensively and was well versed in the scriptures and commentaries, his lectures on the scriptures never talked about mysteries or magic. He always advised people to study in a down-to-earth manner, not to aim too high, but to aspire to learn from the ancients.

After being released from seclusion, Elder Huei Hsin took the promotion of Dharma as his housework, benefiting people as his professional ambition, and forgot about his body for the Dharma. He ignored his illness several times and insisted on preaching the sutras and propagating the Dharma. Due to the intensive sutra banquet, he exhausted all his efforts and vitality, so that after finishing the lectures during the last episode of Surangama Sutra, he couldn’t leave my seat. At the age of 79, Elder Huei Hsin encountered an obstacle and was injured and underwent brain surgery. However, during the period of recuperation, Elder Huei Hsin was still obsessed with propagating Dharma and benefiting living beings. At the age of 80, he once again preached the Śrīmālādevīsiṃhanādasūtra (Shengman Shizi Hou Yicheng Dafangbian Fangguang Jing), which lasted for eight months. At the age of 83, he was still planning to preach The Story of the Enlightenment of Sakyamuni Tathagata. However, all living beings were not blessed, Elder Huei Hsin passed away peacefully in 2010 at the age of 83.

Among them, Elder Huei Hsin taught the Shurangama Sutra in Mandarin and Hakka completely. This was the most comforting thing in his life. He was brave and diligent and eager to benefit everyone. He was indeed a model for future generations of Buddhist disciples.
